1. THE RULE OF LAW = THE LAW RULES:
Why is it called the rule of law?
» It is an old phrase.
» It really means, “the law rules.”
» In America, we are a democracy of laws made by people who follow them.
2. THE RULE OF LAW = RIGHTS + RESPONSIBILITIES:
“No man is above the law.”
» means the law reaches up and pulls people who don’t follow the law down to protect the public from harm.
» “No man is below the law.”
» means the law reaches down and pulls people up to protect their individual rights and freedoms.
3. LAWYERS AND JUDGES EXPLAIN AND APPLY THE RULE OF LAW TO HELP PEOPLE ANSWER QUESTIONS, SOLVE PROBLEMS, AND PEACEABLY RESOLVE DISPUTES.
